My coaching philosophy

Unbiased attention and incisive questioning

My philosophy is to create an open and honest space, to build confidence with my clients and allow them to find their own answers and solutions.

I build rapport quickly, through interest and attentive listening and from this we can then progress to identify the coaching objectives and specific goals to be achieved.

My objective is not to provide the answers for you, but to unlock your solutions to achieving your goals.

My focus is to develop a holistic understanding of my clients that will then enable coaching to help them overcome barriers to their success. As a client you can expect unbiased attention and incisive questioning. We will use a range of techniques to allow you to develop goals, highlight possible challenges and find solutions.

My intention is to coach a wide range of people from all backgrounds to allow them to realise what they can achieve in their careers, or personal life. I have worked with clients with challenges around self-confidence, career progression and executive board development. I am interested in helping with a wide range of challenges.

I support equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas, with an ambition to help clients overcome the barriers put up by themselves and others. In all interactions with the clients, I am an equal and a facilitator, with the intention of reflecting on their capabilities. I will not judge, but I will challenge the negative and highlight the positive.

Coaching methods

My primary coaching method is Co-active (Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House, Phil Sandahl)

With Co-active coaching I use a holistic approach in working with the client. I will give focus and attentive listening, bringing a curious approach into each session. I will use skills and intuition to help the client learn more about themselves and from this create a forward action plan, for which I hold the client fully accountable. This ensures that progress is made over time, in line with the level of understanding.

My supporting approach is to create a “Thinking Environment” (Nancy Kline)

Using this approach, I give full attention and listening without interruption and an interest on where the client will go next in their thinking. I will work to create an easy, relaxed environment with no internal urgency. The client can expect appreciation of what is working well and encouragement to go into more challenging areas.

Kline, Nancy (2002) “Time to Think” - Thinking Environment - Time to Think

“I'm not sure it could get much better, I feel like I am listened to, and I get great comments and action items, Kevin is a wonderful resource for me, and I am grateful for his role in my development!”
